TEMPE, Ariz. – June 10, 2015 – Torres Law Group, a leading political law firm in Arizona, added labor and employment law to its portfolio of legal services. The firm now provides advice on compliance with Department of Labor regulations on union elections, including improper use of social media, and represents employees who have been wrongly terminated, especially those cover by whistleblower protections.
“We’re committed to helping working families, and we are uniquely positioned to help Arizona trade unions do what is right by their members, whether addressing cases of wage theft, unfair labor practices, LMRDA reporting and disclosure issues, or assisting in the collective bargaining process,” says Managing Partner Israel Torres. “These added legal services fit well with our political practice.”
Associate Attorney Saman Golestan recently joined the firm to address employment and labor legal issues and assist with election and political law. Before joining TLG, Golestan did private practice civil litigation and criminal defense work. He worked at National Public Radio’s Office of General Counsel in the areas of constitutional law, administrative law and international law. He also served U.S. Rep. Kyrsten Sinema’s office, developing domestic policies that put the needs of Arizona families first.
Golestan rounds out a highly respected team of attorneys:
• Israel Torres, the former director of the Arizona Registrar of Contractors and member of former Gov. Janet Napolitano’s cabinet, founded the firm. He focuses on labor law and government relations.
• Jim Barton, a former Arizona assistant attorney general, leads the firm’s political law practice that includes formation and operation advice for political action committees, election law litigation and lobbying.
Torres Law Group, PLLC is a Tempe-based law firm promoting the interests of Arizona’s working families by advising political action committees, social welfare nonprofits and labor groups. The firm litigates a variety of matters, including Freedom of Information Act claims, election-law issues and labor disputes in state and federal court.
