Tomás E. Robles is civic leader with over 12 years of experience in political campaigns and strategic communications. Tomas brings vast experience and knowledge to the TCLG team. Most recently, Tomás E. Robles Jr. led his own consulting company, Fuerte Strategies where Fuerte Strategies helped deliver political victories in a variety of states and municipalities.
Previously, Tomás served as Executive Director of Living United for Change in Arizona (LUCHA) from 2013 until 2022. LUCHA is a member-driven organization that has played a key role in the recent movement in Arizona to bring attention to wage inequality and workers’ rights. Tomás became involved in grassroots organizing and activism after Senate Bill 1070, an anti-immigrant bill, was signed into law.
In 2010, Tomas became a community organizer helping to promote civic engagement and comprehensive immigration reform. Since then, Tomás has been a key leader in coalitions and a thought leader in changing Arizona’s political landscape and moving forward issues affecting working families, including immigration, voters’ rights, workers’ rights, Veterans issues, and housing discrimination. In 2016, Tomas led the Arizona for Fair Wages and Healthy Families campaign in Arizona to raise the minimum wage. Tomás has been vital to Arizona’s infrastructure, assisting in building up the capacity of Arizona’s c3 and c4 infrastructure tables, and in increasing political power amongst Latinos and young people of color within the state of Arizona. In totality, as of 2022, Tomás has been directly and indirectly responsible for securing over 50 million dollars in resources for progressive issue campaigns, projects, and institutions. Raising over $20 million for his former organization alone.
In addition to his work, Tomas has also been recognized as a Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Fellow, a Flinn Foundation Fellow, and a Phoenix Business Journal 40 Leaders Under 40 honoree.
Tomás is the son of Mexican immigrants, born in Tucson, AZ, and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and is a graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Transborder Studies with an emphasis on immigration policy and economy. He shared his daily life with his partner Rekha and their three pets.
