Iowa Subcontractor Pays More Than $64,000 in Back Wages

March 4, 2024

PHOENIX, Ariz. (March 4, 2024) – North Central Iowa Services, LLC was ordered to pay $64,077.99 in back wages owed to three employees.

Torres Consulting & Law Group’s (TCLG) compliance team examined the HVAC and plumbing subcontractor’s payroll and found that North Central Iowa Services failed to pay the proper fringe benefits to three employees who worked construction on an area school, a job that was covered by federal Davis-Bacon and Related Acts laws. TCLG investigated the subcontractor on behalf of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 33.

The U.S. Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division found that North Central Iowa Services failed to properly pay fringe benefits to a trio of employees from Jan. 11, 2022, through July 31, 2022. These mistakes were discovered after reviewing payrolls and other supporting data.

The TCLG team will continue to hold contractors committing wage violations accountable.
