Three industry leaders join TCLG: Renowned politico, attorney and journalist round out team

PHOENIX – Jan. 8, 2013 – Three leading Phoenix professionals have joined the team at Torres Consulting and Law Group, including the former executive director of the Arizona Democratic Party, former chief legal counsel for the state Registrar of Contractors and an award-winning former Arizona Republic reporter.

“The experience of our new team members is phenomenal,” said TCLG Managing Partner Israel Torres. “I’m so pleased to add such experienced staff who will take our firm to the next level.”

Meet our new additions:

Former Arizona Democratic Party Executive Director Luis Heredia will serve as TCLG’s government relations director.

Heredia will build and manage comprehensive political strategies for TCLG’s government relations clients. His wealth of political experience will be invaluable for clients looking to influence public policy.

Before joining the state Democratic Party, Heredia served as a senior congressional aide to Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva and worked as Union Pacific Railroad’s public affairs director for Arizona and New Mexico. Heredia also has served as an elected board member for the Somerton Elementary School District Governing Board in Yuma County.

His deep connections with elected and appointed officials both statewide and nationally will help TCLG’s clients achieve their political objectives.

Former chief legal counsel for the Arizona Registrar of Contractors Jessica Fotinos will serve as the firm’s new compliance and regulatory affairs director.

Fotinos’s extensive legal experience in public records and regulatory compliance will help her manage TCLG’s ever-growing compliance caseload. Her joining the firm is bad news for cheating contractors, but good news for TCLG and its clients nationwide.

With Fotinos on staff, TCLG looks forward to more aggressively pursuing records requested under the Freedom of Information Act and potentially filing public records lawsuits against uncooperative agencies.

TCLG’s compliance clients can also expect increased monitoring of the bid process, ensuring that all aspects comply with applicable regulations, and potentially challenging in court those that do not.

Award-winning Arizona Republic reporter Yvette Armendariz Carr has joined the public relations group as a senior public relations account executive.

Armendariz’s 20 years of media and communications experience includes reporting for print, television and the Internet, building online communities and marketing online.

Career highlights include a first-place award for business reporting from the Arizona Press Club and three awards from the U.S. Small Business Administration, each naming her as Small Business Journalist of the Year.

At TCLG, Armendariz will elevate clients’ public presence through earning media coverage and creating content to distribute online. She also will work to raise awareness around issues important to TCLG’s clients, such as project labor agreements and the importance of unions in building a strong middle class.

Tempe, Ariz.-based Torres Consulting and Law Group offers consulting services in the areas of public and government relations, and regulatory compliance.
